What Genre of Music?

Hey!

I would say similar to Nick Cave, the genre would Alternative/Indie

Damian

Thank you, that’s really helpful, I really appreciate you taking the time to listen & feedback. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve been thinking indie pop acoustic coffeehouse? Somewhere in there but not quite sure the best way to categorize it.
I prefer my home recording to my released album though.

Hey! I can definitely hear elements of grunge/post grunge and alternative rock (some biffy/queens of the stone age vibes!)

What are your thoughts?

Hey there!

We’ve been labeling our music as ā€œProgressive Nu-Metalā€, checking different bands and their wikipages to see what they have been labeled as, and used that info to categorize ourselfs.

Here’s the link for spotify:

What do you guys say? Is this accurate? If not, what would you suggest?

Cheers,
-Zac

Thanks for the input Damian. I haven’t listenened to queens of stone age that much, but I will check them out a bit more then. Also never heard of ā€œBiffyā€ is that an act you mean or a word you use to describe it with? I found ā€œBiffy Clyroā€ on Spotify, is that what you mean?

Haven’t thought about checking for post grunge. I am definately inspired by Nirvana for example, but it’s good to find bands that are actually still active

Our main influences as a whole is: ( not that it can all be heard in just this one song)

metallica, oasis, rem, weezer, blur, hellacopters, nirvana, dream theater and yes…

but nice to hear some descriptions from other people of what is actually coming out of that melting pot
we are currently thinking about describing it as progressive pop/rock. but at the same time we don’t have that typical 70ish sound. but sound rather 90ish.

Hey!

Ahh interesting! Yeah Biffy Clyro is what I mean - not the whole style, just a couple of parts that made me think of them

Hey everyone,

I know genre wise I fall under dance/electronic. But I still struggle sometimes when asked what other artists I sound like.

Here’s a link to my Spotify:

I’m also finding it a little difficult to find my tribe.
I’m thinking I’m more in the New Age genre than World Music but would like your guys opinion. thank you

Hey Steve!

Here’s a question… if you were to go on tour, who would you go on tour with?

I’d say New Age is a great shout

Never heard of them. I’ll be sure to give them a listen. Thank you!

I dig it. I love writing in 7/4 too. As unique as your music is, surely you have influences though, nothing exists in a vacuum. Even if they’re loose try to dig up the info on those artists and go from there!

I get a bit of soul coughing and a bit of pearl jam from this, maybe a bit of minus the bear. your drummer is a monster.

I feel like you should try targeting massage therapists. just a hunch. could be worth testing as an audience.

Thanks Elbrycen, never heard of those bands except Pearl Jam, I will check them out!
Also glad you like the drumming, I’m on both vocals and drums. Yep, one of the few…

What’s the name of your project?

I’m in Golden Plates

I think you’ll really dig Minus the Bear if you haven’t heard them.
