When to release your video on YouTube

Hi there,
I was wondering when you should release your music video on Youtube.
Some say one the same day of your release on Spotify, some say not on the same day if you don’t have so many subscribers yet on YouTube.
What’s your experience?

Hey Ward,

If you’re trying to trigger the dsp algorithms with as much traffic as possible it can be beneficial to hold off for a week or so before dropping the official music video.

If YouTube is the goal and you want to send everyone straight to that official music video then get that baby up on release day

It also depends on how many videos you’ll be releasing.

You could for example have something like:
Release day Friday - Still image video
Week 2 Monday - lyric video
Week 2 Wednesday - performance video
Week 2 Friday - official video
Week 3 Monday - acoustic video
Week 3 Wednesday - behind the scenes
Week 3 Friday - unofficial video

Ultimately it comes down to what you’re purpose is and how much video content you have and then experiment from there with trial and error.

I personally find 2-3 between videos works best for me personally. In what order I’m still playing around with though

Hey!

I would recommend what Gimson says here too - I would do YT on release day if you’re sending everyone to the video and that’s the goal, but otherwise I’d send everyone to Spotify on release day and then put the video out a week later :slight_smile:

But now the 22 day plan says that that the video comes out on the release day, now I’m confused…
