Grist for the algorithm: alternate mixes

Hi everyone, new to the community and starting to get organised with strategies for releasing music when I have some finished material early next year.

I understand the strategy of releasing a new single every 4-6 weeks (I was thinking of splitting the difference and going with 5), but am trying to incorporate Damian’s advice about using alternate mixes, live versions, demos etc.

Is there extra value in having a single release “last” for three or four weeks by releasing alternate mixes each week following the primary release before having a small break and moving into the next new song?

Or should these versions be saved up for people who are really interested, as a way of giving exclusive content that can’t be accessed through the streaming platforms?

Or is it a mixture of both (use alternate versions to maintain interest in a single release, but hold some versions back too?)

Keen to hear thoughts from the community.

Hey dude!

Welcome.

Definitely, I love that idea! And love the exclusivity idea you have going there - I’d do all in on the exclusivity, or do it all on Spotify. Things don’t tend to work as well when you do half and half, like most things like life gotta go all in

Yea I will be doing more mixes for tracks two, well a radio edit for Spotify and an extended mix for DJs and Soundcloud.
