Confused about FB and Insta ads - various questions - need help!

I am now quite confused by Facebook and Insta ads. I have a few questions and issues and I’m not finding answers in the related videos.

I’m running quite a few video view ads and getting very good cost per click results on FB. However, I want to advertise on Insta as I’m collecting followers quite steadily there.

FB offers a choice of where a new ad is shown. One ad was shown to thousands on FB and only 3 on Insta despite me clicking both. I don’t know why.
Now, Insta doesn’t even show up in the list of where I want the ads to display. I don’t know why.
How do I advertise on Insta only? Is that even possible?

I don’t know how to choose a Stories ad rather than a feed ad, FB or Insta. I can’t see that as an option. Am I missing something? How do I go about it?

Boost post versus ad manager? Advantages of boosting existing post rather than creation from scratch?
How does that work with Stories?

I swear each time I try to advertise I see a different set of fields and options.

I have some saved audinces from a couple of years back. I don’t know how I saved them. However, I have a good new audience for my current video view ads but I’m having to re-enter it each time. I can’t see any option to save it or re-use it. What am I missing?

Damian talks a lot about “swipe up”, something I have never seen anywhere. Do I need a particular type of account for this?
As far as I can tell, I’ve changed my Insta account into a business account. But it’s hard to tell. This is confusing.

Hey Vince!

So what happens is FB will always give you the cheapest cost for the metric. So if you select both FB and Instagram and FB comes up cheaper, they will mainly send it there and ignore insta. So if you want to run to Instagram, I would just select Instagram and test it that way.

Stories ad is in the placement option, but what’s important first is you need the right dimensions for the story ad (vertical video). Then you just need to select Instagram Stories in the placement and de-select the other bits.

Ad manager will nearly always work out better value than a boost and you get more data, so you can then make better decisions going forward. But it’s always worth a test - the thing with ads is that something can work well for one person and not for another so we test to see where to head.

You can boost stories as well - you do this when you’re on the stories section and hit the promote button.

A good course to watch for this is the Spotify Digital Ads course

Swipe up would be just on Instagram Stories placement

It can be very confusing, so take your time and know that people do digital ads for their full time job, so there’s a big learning curve and be OK that you’re not going to have it down straight away!

Here for whatever you need dude,

Ok…went back and looked again at connecting Insta and FB and ensuring it’s a business account. Still slightly confusing but suddenly I have a Promote button showing on Insta and some more options when looking at FB ad centre etc. I have an album due out 7 May so will have a play with the new options.
Still don’t fully understand saving audiences or using look alike audiences but I’ll see what I can figure out.

If you have the Promote button showing that means you’ve got the business stuff set up - I’d recommend watching the Introduction To Fb Ads course before setting anything up and I’m here for whatever you need
